A Look Inside Dupree Park: An Oasis in the City

Since 2011, the City of Woodstock has worked hard to make Dupree Park the center of recreation in the area. The park has seen several changes in that time, all to serve the community. The City of Woodstock has worked with local businesses and organizations to add amenities to the park, making it a destination for outdoor recreation, education, and community building. The centerpiece of Dupree Park is the four-acre lake fed by a stream of water from a ravine. The lake is famous for fishing and is stocked regularly with various species. Behind the lake is a winding walking trail that meanders through a wooded area and around the lake. The course is famous for walking, jogging, and bicycling. The lake is also home to two floating docks providing access to fishing and paddle boats. Several picnic tables and benches provide a perfect spot for picnicking or simply taking in the beautiful views of the lake. The park also includes a playground, three softball fields, and a community garden. In addition to the recreational activities in the park, Dupree Park also offers a variety of educational opportunities. The park is home to the Old Woodstock Community Garden, where residents can learn how to grow organic vegetables and herbs. An outdoor classroom offers classes on environmental sustainability, while the Fish and Wildlife Management program allows visitors to learn about different wildlife species and their habitats.
